How often do you question whether something you heard, either spoken or communicated to you through behavior of others, really ring true of who you are? As a woman, I struggle with getting my identity from what others think about me. I also struggle with placing my identity in the skills and abilities that I have and use. However, it is the work of God in us that brings us toward holiness and His word alone has the ability to truly tell us who we are and what our purpose is.
Marva from sunSPARKLEshine wrote a post called True Identity: The Truth About Being Chosen & Complete where she articulates the struggle with gaining our identity from the truth of God’s word and the tendency to listen to the world when it tells us who we are.
I have been set apart for a reason. And it’s not just to feel good about myself. No, God has chosen me, made me a part of this chosen generation, in order to declare God’s praises.”
