“The Loving Kitchen” by food blogger LeAnn Rice is a delightful and artistic presentation of delicious food, both for comfort and flare! It would be a fantastic addition to any cookbook lover’s collection, like mine. The running thread throughout the book is encouragement on how we can show love to others by the food we decide to cook & serve. I love that concept, especially since relational bonding often happens around the table!
Recipes are divided up into seven categories:
- Morning Fare
- Bountiful Breads
- Starters and Salads
- Soups and Sandwiches
- Sides and Desserts
At the end of the book is a section called “Reaching Out & Gathering In” which I found fascinating & encouraging. This section is unique in that not very many cookbooks include ideas for two important avenues of culinary interest:
- Reaching out to those in need and,
- Gathering (Inviting) in of those you love
Both of these categories include motivation to think beyond your own home and family, as well as ideas for what to bless others with.
Each category contains delicious recipes that don’t require special ingredients. They are pretty easy to make & I also appreciate the comments from the author about each and every recipe. She gives tips, notes, and/or history about each recipe which helps me see what she likes about it or how I can change it to suit my family better.
In conclusion, “The Loving Kitchen” is a wonderful cookbook! I highly encourage the addition of it to many kitchens.
