Disclosure: I received a free Clean product for the purpose of this honest, unbiased review. In no way was I compensated beyond that product and there’s no expectation that I give a good review.
I have been interested in making my home a place that’s clean and inviting without continuing to spend money on expensive cleaners and polishes and window solutions and without using toxic chemicals to disinfect things. I went from using Lysol on everything, including toys, to now using a vinegar/water (50/50) solution with Lemon or Orange essential oil added into it.
However, I’ve also done a review of Norwex for a friend and just found another very intriguing company called Healthy Home Company. Watch this little video on why they sprouted up as another place to get toxic-free cleaners for the home.
“Toxic-free” and “non-toxic” are actually very different. The Toxic Free Foundation gives you more information about what makes them different and the standards a company must abide by to claim it’s products as toxic-free.
Mandi, a fellow blogger, works with Healthy Home Company to bring you cleaners, items for household, cosmetic, personal care, etc so that you can replace all those solutions with unreadable ingredients with ones that are natural and easy to research. One thing I particularly like about Healthy Home Company website is that their product details include a description of all the ingredients within that product including what it is, where is come from and what it does. So you know exactly what’s in the product you are buying.

Now, on to reviewing the product at hand: Clean
As I set about cleaning my bathrooms, which is always the test-location for these types of products, I noticed first the nice smell of the solution. I got the Orange Zest smell and it smells beautiful, like fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Something else to know about my testing measures is that I test products like this on an area that I haven’t cleaned within a week. I think the best test for products is where you can actually see whether or not it works. Maybe it’s our water out here in central Nebraska, but mineral deposits show around the drains fairly soon after cleaning (only a few days) so I think it’s a great testing ground for new products to review.
In cleaning my bathroom I found that it cleaned up normal dirt, hair and toothpaste smudges just fine. It left the surfaces feeling clean and polished. However, it didn’t clean the mineral deposits around the drain as well as previously used products. I noticed a small difference in the opacity of the mineral deposits but it did not rid the porcelain of the ring staining those areas where water rests.
I noticed the same thing with the toilet where the water level marks area and the the tub around the drain. I was a bit surprised at how poorly it did with those mineral rings actually. I followed up cleaning those areas with a baking soda & Lemon essential oil mix which took care of them.
In conclusion, the product did an alright job and I would recommend it as helpful with folks who are in the habit of housecleaning regularly. However, if you clean in spurts or when you find the time and especially if you clean more sporadically than weekly, I would not recommend this product.
