A friend of mine asked me to try out some products from her home business and review them. Honestly, when she told me about them, I was reticent in obliging as I had never heard of the company before and I am not too keen on MLM business models, but since she assured me that there would be no cost to me and because I really enjoy trying and reviewing new things, I obliged.
First, a bit about the company. Straight from the horse’s mouth, “Norwex is committed to radically reducing the use of chemicals in personal care and cleaning to promote health.” Click here to see their “Ingredient Standards”.
Jamie let me borrow the following items to try out:
- Enviro microfiber cloth
- Window Cloth
- Enviro wand
- Bathroom Scrub Mitt
- Cleaning Paste
- Blue Diamond (Bathroom Cleaner)
- Oven & Grill Cleaner
- Carpet Stain Buster
As you can tell, I did a lot of cleaning this weekend.
I really like the Enviro Cloth, it was awesome and absorbed so much that I really could use it for everything and anything. It made it super easy & I didn’t feel like the cloth was all nasty like I do with old rags I usually use. These things are super awesome.
The Window Cloth left no smudges or smears, it wiped the window absolutely clean. I used the Enviro Cloth first, wet, and then dried with the Window Cloth. Even when I’ve used vinegar and newspaper, I still have trouble getting it completely clear, so this was a good thing. Now, just tell my kids not to touch the windows after I clean them so I can enjoy the clear view… They were dirty again with face/lip smears and hand prints within 10 minutes after they woke up from naps.
The Enviro Wand was also awesome. I was easily able to dust hard-to-reach places, like all the fan blades in every room of the house or on top of tall furniture and so on. Most of the dust stuck to the wand so it wasn’t floating into my face nearly as much as usual.
Another one of my favorites was the Carpet Stain Buster. I have 2 cats, one of whom likes to throw up every day, and 2 toddlers who enjoy making messes. I made a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie last week. At one point, my 1yo son, decided to throw a bite-sized piece of it onto the floor and of course there was a bright red spot on the carpet (I very much dislike having carpet in our dining room!). I purposefully left the spot there knowing that I would get to try this carpet cleaner out on it. Two days later, I sprayed the silver-dollar sized bright red spot with this cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes while I sprayed other spots throughout the house, and came back with a damp Enviro cloth to blot. On every spot in the house, I only needed one pass with this cleaner for the spot to come completely out. I had to use the Carpet Stain Buster in two passes for the pie and for red chalk rubbed into our living room floor, but they all came out without having to scrub one bit. It was pretty great. It also did not alter the color of my carpet in the least, I did not “test” an inconspicuous area first as we’re supposed to, I never do and thankfully I don’t regret it this time!
The Descaler, Blue Diamond bathroom cleaner, and Cleaning Paste all worked well. To be honest, they worked about the same as store-bought cleaners – no better and no worse. The difference is that these ones don’t smell of strong bleach, in fact they don’t smell really at all. I think that’s the main selling points on these – they clean well, just as well as the store-bought chemicals one, but you don’t want to open all the windows and turn on fans when you’re done cleaning the bathrooms.
The Oven & Grill Cleaner is the only product I tried that I wasn’t too fond of. Of course, I’m not fond of any oven cleaner really as you will soon read. Also, I can’t stand cleaning the oven so Paul did it for me. No worries, I watched and he gave me a very thorough run-down as well. My biggest issue with oven cleaners is that I have not found one that doesn’t give me a headache because of the smell. This cleaner actually didn’t smell much, but both Paul & I did get headaches afterward. I liked that it didn’t fill the house with a terrible smell and it didn’t smoke or smell at all when I used my oven afterward, that was great! But we did get headaches that lasted until we went to bed and that wasn’t so great. Paul & I recognize that we are sensitive to headaches when cleaners are involved though so it kind of doesn’t surprise me.
To conclude, I really liked the products, especially the cloths & Carpet Buster. I liked that it’s environmentally friendly and doesn’t use all the harsh chemicals found in store-bought cleaners. I liked the ease of use and the concise instructions for use. I would recommend this company and these products to people, especially those who are sensitive to chemicals.
If you want to look around and try some out for yourself, click here to go to the website and see what they offer. Apparently because I’m writing this here review, I also get to “host” an event and may get a chance to receive more products. This does not play a part in this review, nor does make my opinion biased in any fashion. These are my own opinions, not influenced by anything other than my own experience in using these products.
Happy cleaning, everyone!
