Number 24 – What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about parenthood?
My favorite thing would be the tender moments: snuggling after waking up or right before bedtime, sitting on my lap while I read, hysterical things you say that make you sound so grown up but you’re still my little babes, watching your face when something “clicks” in your mind and you finally understand it, the little toes and little fingers and adorable high-fives with such little hands. I enjoy the moments when you ask about God and we talk forever about wherever those questions lead us.
My least favorite thing would be the sinfulness that comes out in all of us from time to time: the selfishness that leads to screaming and pushing each other, the covetousness that leads to hoarding toys so no one else can play with them, when I don’t give you grace and expect you to act older than you are which leads to impatience and anger. I’m glad that we’ve got the not-so-good stuff though because God is sanctifying us all and helping us to die to ourselves. We are learning more about God and about the vastness of His forgiveness through these least favorite things.
Tomorrow is #25 – If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
